Vintage Ping
Can you mix a B8 metal hi hat with a B20 ride or vice versa?
I have a nice pair of 14" Sabian Pro Hats which sound pretty good even though they are B8 sheet bronze but I don't know if I should get a used Sabian Pro ride to match it or can I use an Avedis Zildjian ping ride?
The Pro Hats are really bright and they really cut. The Avedis Zildjian would be more vintage sounding.
Should B8 metal go with B8 metal?
First of all, this is a matter of taste. My Studio drummer uses Paiste because he likes the crispy hi-hat sound but, his cymbals range from Paiste to Sabian to Zildjian.
Sabian Pro are good Hats and YES, the Zildjian pimg ride is a good choice to match with it. I used to drum but was to lazy to carry them and eventually, mastered the guitar. LOL
So , for the vintage sound, Zildjian is great but so is Paiste. Try both of them before buying. Putting b8 metal with B8 metal is not a set rule. Your other choice with Zildjian is much much better choice.
